Calculation of operational amplifier parameters

This calculator will help you calculate the output voltage and gain values for inverting, non-inverting, and differential switching of an op-amp. To calculate, enter the values of the resistors and input voltage.

An operational amplifier (Op-amp) is a high-gain DC amplifier with a differential input and a single output. The three simplest op-amp switching schemes are inverting, non-inverting, and differential amplifiers. The terms "inverting" and "non-inverting" refer to the polarity of the output voltage relative to the input. The inverting amplifier outputs an output voltage whose polarity is opposite to that of the input voltage. A non-inverting amplifier does not change the polarity of the input voltage.

Application

Designing with op-amps is much easier than creating individual amplifiers from individual components. The resulting schemas are easily customized to meet the needs of a specific application. The main method of implementing op-amps is to use negative feedback. In typical inverting and non-inverting configurations, the feedback circuit consists of two resistors. The gain of the finished circuit is almost entirely determined by the values of these two resistors.
